Deliveries of Storm Shadow missiles to Ukraine from Great Britain have stopped.
This was reported by URA-Inform with reference to The Times.
It is possible that London is holding them back until the ban on strikes on Russia is finally lifted. The British believe that these missiles can be used more effectively. Journalists noted that Great Britain and France are afraid to lift the ban on strikes on Russia without support for this decision from the United States.
As journalists write, the current administration in the White House categorically refused to give such consent, fearing “an escalation by Russia” in response to such strikes.
Media workers found out that many former British officials criticize this government decision. In particular, former Defense Secretary Grant Shapps called on the British government to “act unilaterally” without the US position.
«We don’t need to wait for Biden, we need to stop pretending that this is the right thing to do before we act. Frankly, we just need to get going and do it. The Americans will jump on board. We are tying the hands of our Ukrainian friends by saying: we will not allow you to strike at Putin’s war machine. This is wrong. And we need to make sure that these permissions are granted now,» he stressed.
However, it recently became known that the new British government not only does not lift the ban on the use of Storm Shadow missiles for strikes against Russia, but has stopped their deliveries to Ukraine altogether.
Sources in the defense sector with whom journalists spoke named two possible reasons: either the UK wants to keep these missiles for the needs of the British army; or they are being held back, waiting for a better moment for delivery, when permission for use on Russian territory is finally granted, then the missiles can be used with greater efficiency than now.
