Scientists have discovered that regular physical activity helps to significantly reduce the risk of developing polyps in the intestines, which are considered precancerous and can develop into colorectal cancer.

The study, conducted as part of the Nurses Health Study II, included an analysis of data from 28,250 women of various ages who had undergone sigmoidoscopy or colonoscopy. Scientists compared the results of the examinations with the participants' lifestyle, including unhealthy habits, diet, physical activity and other factors . 

The results showed that women who regularly engaged in physical activity from childhood to adulthood reduced the risk of polyps by 24%. At the same time, activity at different periods of life also provided significant benefits: for those who were physically active between the ages of 12 and 22, the risk was reduced by 7%, and for women involved in sports or physical education between the ages of 23 and 64, it was reduced by 9%.

Thus, scientists have confirmed that physical activity throughout life plays an important role in the prevention of precancerous conditions of the intestine.
