Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has made a number of important statements on the strategy for the return of Crimea.
This was reported by URA-Inform with reference to Fox News.
In a recent interview, he emphasized that the diplomatic path is the only possible way to return the peninsula to Ukrainian control. According to the president, Kyiv does not legally recognize the occupation of Crimea and other territories that began in 2014.
However, he acknowledged that at the moment Ukraine does not have sufficient resources for the military liberation of all occupied lands.
“We are ready to return Crimea through diplomatic means, but we are not ready to spend tens of thousands of lives to return it with weapons in hand,” Zelensky said.
He also noted that Russian leader Vladimir Putin has repeatedly expressed his position that Crimea will never return to Ukraine. Nevertheless, Zelensky expressed confidence that diplomatic efforts could bring positive results in the long term.
The Ukrainian leader emphasized that the process of returning Crimea is not only a matter of territorial integrity, but also the preservation of human lives.
“We cannot afford to sacrifice people to achieve goals, no matter how important they are,” he added.
In addition, it became known how Putin can take revenge for allowing ATACMS to hit the Russian Federation.
