Twitter LinkedIn

Doctors called a symptom that may signal high blood pressure.

This was reported by URA-Inform with reference to Daily Paws.

Cat behavior expert Linda Hall told how to recognize signs of sadness in pets. She noted that cats do not express grief through tears like humans, but their sadness is shown through changes in behavior.

Key signs that may indicate sadness or pain in cat:

— increased vocalization (meowing or crying);

— trembling or shaking;

— decreased appetite;

— decreased activity level;

— increased sleep duration;

— changes in litter box use;

— displays of aggression;

— choosing a new grooming location.

Linda Hall emphasized that such changes may be associated with physical discomfort or emotional stress in the animal:

«Every month, examine your cat from head to toe, checking for any abnormalities or sore spots. If your cat hisses, she is not swearing. She's telling you that she's scared, anxious, or that something you just touched hurts.

However, excessive tearing in cats is not a sign of sadness or pain and requires veterinary attention because it is associated with other health issues.

«Usually, when a cat cries tears, it indicates a medical issue, such as conjunctivitis, a blocked tear duct, or another common eye infection. So the best solution is to — call a veterinarian for an examination, she emphasized.

It will also be interesting to know that scientists have found out which predator animals fear the most: and it is not a lion or a crocodile.
