Trump's adviser made a loud statement about the war in Ukraine: what he insists on

Future US President Donald Trump has chosen Florida Congressman Mike Waltz as its national security adviser.

URA-Inform reports this with reference to Fox News Sunday.

He compared the Russian-Ukrainian war to the trench war of World War I and insisted that it must be stopped as soon as possible. In particular, Waltz commented on the Biden administration's decision to allow Ukraine to use anti-personnel landmines. He noted that these are “smart mines”, but insisted that the decision “must be broader in scope to end this conflict.”

“It's just an absolute slaughter of men and equipment on that front. It's more like the trench warfare of World War I,” Waltz said.

He noted that Trump is “incredibly concerned” about the conflict.

“President Trump is incredibly concerned about the carnage that's going on there and how do we re-establish deterrence and how do we establish peace,” he said.

The incoming adviser added that the Europeans definitely have a key role to play in that process. When asked why Trump does not often publicly discuss the situation in Ukraine, Waltz assured that the new president is “concerned about the escalation and where this is going.”

“We have to see this through to a responsible end. We have to restore deterrence, restore peace, and get ahead of this escalation, not react to it,” he emphasized.

At the same time, the military man made a disappointing forecast for what will happen at the front by the end of the year.
