Mexican artist Miguel Angel Omanya Rojas has recreated a realistic image of the Virgin Mary using artificial intelligence.

This was reported by URA-Inform with reference to DailyMail.

The portrait depicts her as a teenager with long black hair, brown eyes and a dark skin tone, consistent with her Middle Eastern origins.

The basis for the reconstruction was the image of the Virgin of Guadalupe, which miraculously appeared on the cloak of the Aztec Juan Diego, which is still kept in the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Mexico City.

The AI analyzed the details of the historical image over several weeks, studying facial features and other characteristics. In the process, databases with human characteristics were used to create the most reliable portrait. At the final stage, the technology added skin and hair textures, which made the image more alive.

The artist noted that his project allows you to take a new look at the appearance of Mary and imagine how she might have looked in real life. At the same time, he pointed out that in the past, the European tradition changed the features of Mary to make them closer to their own ideas.

«This is the closest image that artificial intelligence could make,» Omanya Rojas concluded.

It will also be interesting to learn about that scientists have studied soil samples from the far side of the Moon for the first time: an unexpected discovery has been made.
