Israel Agrees to End War with Hezbollah: Netanyahu Says

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has announced his readiness to present the Cabinet of Ministers with a ceasefire agreement with Lebanon.

This was reported by URA-Inform with reference to Expert.

According to him, the Hezbollah group has been significantly weakened, and Israel has “thrown it back a decade.”

“We have destroyed most of the rockets and shells. We have killed thousands of terrorists, destroyed the underground and terrorist infrastructure on our borders. All this “sounded like science fiction” three months ago, but “we did it,” Netanyahu emphasized.

However, the duration of the ceasefire, as the prime minister noted, will depend on further developments in Lebanon.

“If Hezbollah arms itself and rebuilds its infrastructure along the border, we will attack. If they launch rockets, if they dig large tunnels, we will attack,” the Israeli prime minister stressed.

The agreement is reportedly expected to begin at 10:00 on Wednesday, November 27. Netanyahu stressed that the main goal remains the protection of Israeli soldiers and citizens. He also assured that Israel has the support and understanding of the United States, and the country will retain the right to military action in the event of new aggression from Hezbollah.

The prime minister cited three key reasons for concluding the agreement:

focusing efforts on the threat from Iran;

solving the problems with delays in arms deliveries.

— isolating the Hamas group and preventing escalation on various fronts.

The exact terms of the document have not yet been disclosed, but it is known that this agreement does not concern the current confrontation between Israel and Hamas in Gaza. Its goal is to stabilize the situation on the northern border and prevent further escalation of the conflict.

It also became known when negotiations with the Russian Federation may take place: the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine named the date.
