Twitter LinkedIn

Washington increases pressure to Kyiv, calling for lowering the minimum age for military conscription from 20 to 18.

This was reported by URA-Inform with reference to Reuters.

This proposal was voiced by a high-ranking representative of the US administration , emphasizing the need to strengthen Ukraine's combat capability against the backdrop of a protracted conflict with Russia.

A representative of the American administration noted that the current mobilization is insufficient to maintain a sustainable level of combat capability of the Ukrainian armed forces.

“Right now we need manpower,” the official said, noting that Russian troops continue to advance in the east.

Lowering the draft age will increase the number of soldiers participating in combat operations. However, experts warn of possible social consequences, including growing discontent among young people and their families.

Meanwhile, the Russians are preparing to advance on the Dnepropetrovsk region.
