Zelensky declared his readiness to end the war without occupied territories

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that he would help stop the “hot phase of the war” and subsequently agree on the return of the still occupied territories “by diplomatic means.”

This was reported by URA-Inform with reference to Sky News.

In particular, Zelensky said that NATO membership should be offered to the unoccupied parts of the country in order to put an end to the “hot phase of the war,” provided that the Alliance's invitation itself recognizes Ukraine's internationally recognized borders.

He apparently agreed that the occupied eastern parts of the country would not be covered by such an agreement for the time being.

“If we want to stop the hot phase of the war, we need to take the territory of Ukraine that is under our control under the NATO umbrella. We need to do this quickly. And then Ukraine will be able to return the occupied territories through diplomatic means,” the Ukrainian leader emphasized.

Zelensky said the ceasefire was necessary to “ensure that Russian President Vladimir Putin does not return” and seize more Ukrainian territory.

He noted that NATO should “immediately” cover the part of Ukraine that remains under Kyiv's control, which he said “is very necessary for Ukraine, otherwise he will return.” At the same time, the Ukrainian leader added that no one had officially proposed such an option.

Recall that earlier it was reported when negotiations with the Russian Federation could take place: the Verkhovna Rada named the date.
