Yesterday 6 December, on St. Nicholas Day, the country's main Christmas tree was ceremoniously lit on Sophia Square in Kyiv.

This was reported by URA-Inform with reference to Vitaliy Klitschko

Kyiv Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko noted that this year its design and concept are striking in their symbolism and beauty.

The Kyiv Mayor reported that the new artificial tree is 15 meters high, which is three meters more than last year's. Its pure white color represents the bright path of renewal and hope for a better future, symbolizing Christmas and New Year.

The tree was decorated with a 2 km long light blue garland, gently enveloping the tree with its glow. In addition to the garland, 2,000 turquoise toys were placed on the tree, harmoniously complementing the overall design concept.

This year, as in the past, all expenses for the installation and decoration of the main symbol of the holidays were financed by patrons. The design of the tree creates a harmonious ensemble with the majestic façade of St. Sophia Cathedral. Next to the tree, there is a photo zone called “Wings of the Phoenix” – a symbol of rebirth and invincibility.

The ceremony of lighting the lights was supposed to remind everyone of the importance of unity, support and optimism in these difficult times.

Kiev Mayor Vitali Klitschko, congratulating Ukrainians on St. Nicholas Day, called on everyone to keep the faith, help the soldiers and continue to work for victory.

“Strength, optimism and let miracles happen! We work, help, support our soldiers! All together! Glory to Ukraine!” – he noted.

Recall that it was previously reported that a ferocious predator with a cute face was spotted in Kyiv (video).
