Political scientists predict that further extension of martial law in Ukraine after February 7 may not be necessary.

This was reported by URA-Inform with reference to Igor Chalenko.

This scenario is becoming more likely against the backdrop of discussions on a possible ceasefire. The head of the Center for Analysis and Strategies, Igor Chalenko, noted that Ukrainian politicians have already begun preparing for elections that could take place after the end of martial law.

«At least two presidential candidates have already launched external campaigns. This suggests that politicians feel that the ceasefire is realistic and that there may not be a further extension of martial law after February 7,” he said, without specifying which presidential candidates he was talking about. p>

According to current legislation, election campaigns must begin 30 days after the lifting of martial law.

Chalenko suggests that autumn 2025 will be the time for local, presidential and parliamentary elections. This period may become an important stage in the restoration of democratic processes in the country.

Recall that earlier it was reported that the war in Ukraine was over: Lavrov named a number of conditions.
