Scientists have established the age at which men and women most often cheat.

This was reported by URA-Inform with reference to Radiotrek.

Much has been said about the midlife crisis, especially about the tendency to cheat in people aged 40–45. However, infidelity is not always associated only with this stage of life. Psychologists have found that people are especially at risk of cheating on the eve of round dates – for example, at 29, 39 or 49 years old. These age limits force a person to rethink their life and seek emotional shocks, including new relationships. Such behavior is associated with a subconscious fear of old age and a desire to get new sensations.

According to research, the age of 39 is considered especially “dangerous” for marital fidelity. However, the peak of infidelity for men and women occurs at different times. Men are more likely to cheat at 25-30 years old, while women are more likely to commit adultery at 30-35 years old.

Another interesting aspect concerns financial factors. The likelihood of cheating increases if a man earns significantly less than his wife. This can may be associated with an attempt to restore a sense of control or self-esteem. Research shows that men who are financially dependent on their partners cheat three times more often than those whose incomes are equal. Such behavior is often perceived as a kind of compensation for the imbalance of roles in the family.
