The West made a special proposal on the war: Zelensky responded briefly

Twitter LinkedIn

Prime Minister of Hungary Viktor Orban has voiced a proposal for a ceasefire between Ukraine and Russia on Christmas Day, accompanied by a large-scale exchange of prisoners of war.

This was reported by URA-Inform with reference to PolitExpert.net

However, the above-mentioned initiative met with categorical disagreement from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. Orban commented on the situation, noting that the Hungarian presidency of the EU ended with an attempt to achieve peace.

“We did everything possible to offer a constructive solution, but, unfortunately, the Ukrainian side rejected our initiative. It's sad, but we continue to strive for peace,” he said.

This initiative highlights the tensions between Ukraine and some EU countries. Zelensky's refusal may be due to both strategic and political considerations, given the current situation at the front and the need to maintain independence in decision-making.

Nevertheless, Zelensky has begun to speak about quick ways to end the war.
