The demographic situation in Ukraine causes serious concerns, and Svetlana Aksenova, a leading researcher at the Institute of Demography and Quality of Life Problems of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, emphasizes that the country is on the verge of a demographic catastrophe.
This was reported by URA-Inform with reference to RBC-Ukraine .
According to the expert, it is political tension, economic crises and war that have become factors that have aggravated the decline in the birth rate. According to the CIA report, the mortality rate in Ukraine — 18.6 per thousand people — is the highest in the world, and the birth rate is one of the lowest.
Aksenova notes that it is already necessary to develop programs to support families, stimulate the birth rate and improve the economic situation. Particular attention should be paid to creating conditions for the return of migrants and developing long-term measures to integrate young people into the economic and social life of the country.
Experts also emphasize that the demographic crisis is a complex problem that requires a multidisciplinary approach.
Reforms are needed in the areas of health care, education and social policy to mitigate the effects of the crisis and ensure sustainable development of society. Without active action, the crisis may become irreversible, threatening the future of the country.
