If the occupied territories of Ukraine remain under Russian control, restoring the destroyed infrastructure there is unlikely to be a priority for the occupiers.
This was reported by URA-Inform with reference to Donpress.
According to military expert, retired colonel of the Ukrainian Armed Forces Oleg Zhdanov, Russia will focus exclusively on extracting profits from the extraction of natural resources.
Zhdanov emphasized that Russia's main goal in these territories is the exploitation of mineral deposits that can be used to generate income, and not improving the lives of the local population.
In addition, the expert expressed concern about Donald Trump's position on the future of the occupied Ukrainian territories, which, in his opinion, could affect the further development of the conflict:
«The worst thing is that when asked directly whether Ukraine should give its territories to the Russian Federation or return them, Trump said that everything there is destroyed, no one will return there for 100 years, like, why give them back then? Read between the lines, Trump is not going to help us get these territories back, that is, he wants us to give them to the Russian Federation, and the Russian Federation does not need to rebuild anything there. By extracting minerals, you can only build barracks for the same prisoners, as was the case in the 1920s (the Gulag prisoners built the Dnieper Hydroelectric Power Station, transporting concrete in wheelbarrows). In exactly the same way, they will now transport lithium and service drilling rigs at the Yuzovskoye field».
