Due to high intensity shooting and uncertified shells, the barrels of German howitzers wear out quickly in war, but take a long time to repair.

According to Ukrainian artilleryman Bohdan Nagai Among the most common problems are software failures, overheating of control units and failure of barrels on German weapons. He explained these problems by the high intensity of gunfire.
However, even those faults that Ukrainian repairmen can fix in the field conditions, such as replacing barrels, are not repaired for a long time due to a shortage of spare parts. Therefore, according to the military man, replacing barrels is delayed for a period of two to six months.
The Deutsche Welle publication notes that European defense companies are currently are increasing their production capabilities, in particular, of artillery barrels and spare parts. In particular, the Rheinmetall concern, which produces barrels for the PZH2000, assures that they responded to the shortage that arose due to rapid wear.
“We have already significantly increased the production volumes of barrels to meet demand,” the company noted.
At the same time, in the West accused Zelensky of deliberately prolonging the war: it became known who spoke out.
