Scientists predict a megavolcano eruption: “Humanity has no plan to deal with it”

Scientists have warned that volcanic eruptions due to climate change could lead to completely unexpected consequences.

This was reported by URA-Inform with reference to CNN.

Professor Markus Stoffel of the University of Geneva reported that The Earth has a 1 in 6 chance of a massive volcanic eruption this century that could wreak “climate chaos” on the planet, he warned, adding that “humanity has no plan to deal with it.”

“But which one will be next and when is still impossible to predict” , he said.

Stoffel recalled that in 1815 there was a powerful eruption of the Indonesian volcano Tambora. The eruption released 24 cubic miles of gases, dust and rock into the atmosphere, causing a sharp drop in global temperatures. Crop failures led to famine, leading to increased disease and the deaths of tens of thousands of people.

Stoffel warned, however, that a 21st century megavolcano could cause further destruction, adding to the effects already caused by humanity's reliance on fossil fuels, unlike the “year without a summer” that followed Tambora.

It will also be interesting to know what threat tea poses to humans in bags: scientists have warned what is in it.
