Elected President USA Donald Trump expressed dissatisfaction with the fact that during his inauguration on January 20, American flags will be lowered in connection with mourning for the 39th President Jimmy Carter, who died on December 29.

This was reported by URA-Inform citing Reuters.

It is noted that the mourning events, including lowering flags, will last 30 days – until January 27. Trump criticized this decision on his social network Truth Social, accusing Democrats of using the situation to discredit his inauguration.

“Democrats are thrilled that our magnificent American flag may be flown at half-mast during my inauguration. They think it's so great and they're so happy about it because they don't really love our country, they only care about themselves,” Trump wrote.

Trump also said, that for the first time during the inauguration of a US president, flags will be lowered, and such a decision will cause discontent among Americans.

Meanwhile, White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre confirmed that the administration does not plan to revise the mourning period.

Recall that it was previously reported that Trump has a new plan for Ukraine for 2025: it became known what he wants to do.
