Retired Lieutenant General Keith Kellogg, who is set to take over as special envoy for Ukraine and Russia, had planned to travel to the Ukrainian capital to meet with the country's leaders in early January. However, the trip was canceled.

Kellogg's team was also reportedly preparing meetings with officials in European capitals, including Rome and Paris, but these plans were also thwarted. Neither Keith Kellogg nor a representative of the Ukrainian embassy in Washington provided any comments to Reuters' request for information on the reasons for the cancellation of the visit.

«Trump repeatedly claimed during the campaign that he could resolve the war in Ukraine within 24 hours of taking office, but he has made little progress in that direction. However, an attempt to quickly “collapsing the conflict remains a key priority for his new administration,” the publication said.

Kellogg is expected to visit Ukraine after Trump takes office, although the date of the visit has yet to be not defined.

At the same time, the Bundestag announced important negotiations on the war in Ukraine: the date has been named.
