Military expert Roman Svitan believes that Russia has set itself the goal of occupying a number of new territories in the coming year, trying to complete what it started several years ago.

According to the analyst, the occupiers have set several goals for themselves in Ukraine.
“This year, the Russians have set themselves the task of further occupying the Kherson, Zaporizhia, Donetsk and Luhansk regions. The main task that the enemy has set for itself is to capture the borders of these regions. For example, in the Luhansk region we still hold Belogorovka. In order to capture the entire Luhansk region, the Russian army must reach the left bank of the Oskol River. The second task is to reach the borders of the Donetsk region,” the expert said.
At the same time, Svitan added that regarding the Dnipropetrovsk region, he doubts that the Russians have set such a goal for themselves this year and next. He noted that they cannot yet seize the regions that they have included in their constitution.
“That is, last year's tasks are being transferred to this year – the seizure of the Luhansk and Donetsk regions. Everything else is a distraction operation, not the main one. Of course, despite everything, they will fight for the Kursk region,” — the expert noted.
According to Svitan, the Russians will direct their main forces to the Donetsk region:
“Definitely. They are at the heights, they will try to advance in the Pokrovsky direction, Konstantinovsky, Kramatorsk, Kupyansky (Kharkiv region),” he predicted.
At the same time, a worrying trend for Ukraine has emerged in the West: an insider has revealed what they are starting to talk about there.
