Photographer Lyledge Snow, who spent a long time in Afghanistan, created a unique project called “We are not dead.”

Its goal is to show , how war changes people, leaving an indelible mark not only on their bodies, but also on their souls.
Each photo in the project is divided into three parts: before, during and after the war. These images convey not only the physical , but also the deep moral and psychological wounds left by the conflict. In the soldiers' gaze, one can see the whole spectrum of emotions: fear, hatred, horror, sadness, homesickness and, finally, the joy of meeting loved ones.
The project is bright emphasizes the ugly face of war. It is a symbol of grief and destruction, taking the lives of innocent people, destroying families and countries, breaking the human psyche. “We Are Not Dead” is a reminder of the cost of military conflicts and a call to think about the fragility of peace.
