January 21 at a press conference In Bratislava, Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico and his Hungarian counterpart Viktor Orban expressed their positions on peace talks between Ukraine and Russia.

This was reported by URA-Inform with reference to Novy Cas.

Both leaders agreed that Ukraine's membership in NATO should be postponed, since it carries potential risks of escalating the conflict.

The Prime Minister of Slovakia emphasized that the current situation requires a more balanced approach.

“Kyiv's membership in NATO at this stage could become a trigger for global confrontation. Bratislava is in favor of peace, but it must be achieved on the basis of mutually acceptable compromises,” Fico noted.

The Hungarian Prime Minister supported his Slovak counterpart, adding that Ukraine's membership in NATO “is tantamount to war.” At the same time, he emphasized that Hungary and Slovakia do not object to Ukraine joining the European Union, but with a caveat:

«To do this, Kyiv must fulfill all conditions, including economic and political»

Orban also drew attention to the problems of competition in agriculture.

«Ukraine's accession could undermine Hungary's economic stability. We cannot allow our agricultural sector to be destroyed due to the low cost of Ukrainian products», he said.

Moreover, Trump's possible peace plan for Ukraine was presented.
