Twitter LinkedIn

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and US President Donald Trump discussed continuing military and financial aid to Ukraine. At the meeting, which took place on February 10, the politicians focused on the need to strengthen the Ukrainian army and the message to Moscow that support for Kiev will remain unchanged.

This was reported by URA-Inform, citing NTV.

Scholz noted that in the future, Ukraine will need the support of Germany and other allies to ensure funding for the army and the country's stability.

«It is necessary to make it clear to the Kremlin leader that cutting aid to Ukraine is not an option,» he said.

The Chancellor also confirmed that he calls on the Donald Trump administration to maintain an active role in supporting Ukraine. This includes not only financial aid, but also political support aimed at containing aggression from Russia.

However, Scholz avoided answering in detail the question about the possible participation of European troops in Ukraine in the absence of American forces. He stressed that the priority task is to create a strong Ukrainian army that could function at a level exceeding the standards of the American armed forces.

Experts note that such statements are important in a situation where the future of US foreign policy strategy and its involvement in European conflicts remains uncertain. According to Scholz, Germany will continue to advocate for the consolidation of allies in the issue of supporting Ukraine.
