The State Bureau of Investigation has opened a criminal case into the death and injury of Ukrainian soldiers as a result of a Russian missile strike on a military training ground in the Dnipropetrovsk region. Law enforcement officials intend to establish all the circumstances of the incident and bring those responsible to justice.

The beginning of the investigation and the actions of the investigators

The State Bureau of Investigation confirmed the opening of a criminal case and expressed condolences to the families of the deceased and injured. The statement from the bureau's press service noted:

“The investigation is aimed at establishing all the details of the tragedy and bringing those responsible to justice.”

A special joint investigative team is working at the scene. Law enforcement officers are conducting the necessary examinations and questioning witnesses.

Details of the strike on the range

According to media reports, the strike hit the Novomoskovsky military training ground in the Samara district of the Dnipropetrovsk region during the formation of fighters from the 157th separate mechanized brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

The Russian Defense Ministry stated that the attack was carried out using the Iskander-M operational-tactical missile system.

Representatives of the Ukrainian Armed Forces reported that a thorough investigation into the circumstances of the tragedy is underway. Major General Mykhailo Drapatiy confirmed the fact of the strike and added that “a detailed investigation of all the circumstances of the incident is underway.”
