Renowned entrepreneur Elon Musk has made a surprise statement, offering Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy the chance to step down and leave the country in exchange for “amnesty.” Musk believes this could be a step toward ending the conflict.
This was reported by URA-Inform, citing Musk's page on X.
On social network X, the billionaire commented on a post that said ending the war in Ukraine would lead to Zelensky losing power. “True,” Musk briefly agreed, expressing his opinion on the matter.
Musk didn't stop there and clarified his position:
“As unpleasant as it may be, Zelensky should offer some kind of amnesty in a neutral country in exchange for a peaceful transition to democracy in Ukraine.”
These words caused a wide resonance, since previously such proposals were heard only from political analysts, but not from influential figures like Musk.
Musk's statement comes amid Donald Trump's recent comments that those who oppose the peace deal “won't be around for long.” Many took this as a hint at possible changes in the Ukrainian government.
True.
As distasteful as it is, Zelensky should be offered some kind of amnesty in a neutral country in exchange for a peaceful transition back to democracy in Ukraine. https://t.co/ZpF6nLIDtw
