– In Nepal, March 8 is considered a day of women’s rest – on this day, men take on all the housework.
– In Japan, March 8 is not officially celebrated, but there is a holiday called Hina Matsuri (Girls' Day) on March 3, when girls are dressed in traditional kimonos and treated to sweets.
– In some African countries, the holiday is associated with traditional festivals in which women play a leading role.
Modern trends
Recently, March 8 has increasingly acquired the connotation of a day of women's independence and self-respect. Flash mobs, events and meetings dedicated to inspiring women's stories are held in different countries.
