Which bridges in Kyiv are open for traffic again and what nuance is there in the decision on the Southern Bridge

Traffic on the Southern Bridge in the capital of Ukraine has been partially restored. The corresponding decision was made by the Kyiv Defense Council after consultations with the military.

This was reported by URA-Inform, citing the Telegram channel of the capital's mayor, Vitali Klitschko.

What changes have come into force?
Traffic on the Southern Bridge is permitted in one direction – from the left bank to the right. In the opposite direction, traffic remains closed, with the exception of emergency and breakdown service vehicles, public transport, military vehicles and transit trucks.

Partial lifting of restrictions on other bridges
The city authorities have also decided to ease restrictions during air raids on two other bridges. On the Darnitsky railway bridge and the Podilsky bridge crossing, only one lane will now be closed in the direction from the left bank to the right.

Bridges open to traffic
Transport will be able to move without restrictions along the following crossings:
– North Bridge
– Metro Bridge
– Paton Bridge
– Darnitsky railway bridge (except for one lane)
– Podolsk bridge crossing (except for one lane)
– South Bridge (from the left bank to the right)

History of restrictions on the South Bridge
The closure of the Southern Bridge took place in March 2022 as part of the defense of the capital. Until recently, only military and emergency transport were allowed to travel along it. The decision to partially open it is due to the need to improve transport links between the banks of the city.
