The European Court of Human Rights has found Ukraine guilty of violating the right to life due to the authorities' inaction during the clashes in Odessa on May 2, 2014.

URA-Inform reported this decision, citing the ECHR website.

Although the court took into account the influence of Russian propaganda in fueling the conflict, it also placed responsibility on the Ukrainian authorities for failing to take sufficient measures to prevent the tragedy.

The court's decision noted that disinformation and propaganda from Russia contributed to the escalation of violence. “The court finds that disinformation and propaganda from Russia played a role in the tragic events… The unjustified wave of violence was preceded by the constant dissemination of aggressive and emotionally charged disinformation and propaganda about the new Ukrainian government and supporters of the Maidan from the Russian government and media,” the decision says.

The court also emphasized that the Odessa police did not take sufficient measures to protect the protesters, despite the attackers having firearms. It was also noted that many officials responsible for the violations later left for Russia, received citizenship, and even took high positions.

Following the consideration of the case, the European Court ordered Ukraine to pay 15 thousand euros to the families of those killed during these events.

Let us recall that the Ministry of Education and Science announced another innovation in schools: what will change.
