On March 18, Donald Trump will hold a phone call with Vladimir Putin, during which the parties may discuss various issues related to the ceasefire in Ukraine. Trump is expected to insist on the need to end the conflict, but the Kremlin is likely to demand concessions from Ukraine on territory and other key issues.
This was reported by URA-Inform, citing WSJ .
The Russian Foreign Ministry has already stated that any peace agreement must provide for Ukraine's neutral status and exclude the possibility of deploying European peacekeepers on Ukrainian territory. These demands are contrary to the key positions of Ukraine and its Western allies, for whom preserving Ukraine's territorial integrity and supporting independence are the most important conditions for a peace agreement.
Meanwhile, Bloomberg highlights that Putin is in no rush to make decisions on the ceasefire issue, as he is waiting for certain conditions to be met before agreeing to peace. This is causing concern among Trump critics, who fear that the US president may make compromises with the Kremlin without coordinating them with Kiev, which would put Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in an extremely difficult position.

The phone call between Trump and Putin, scheduled for 17:00 Kyiv time, could play a key role in how events unfold, but given the predictable disagreements, there is no certainty that the conversation will lead to real progress. Whether this is a step toward peace or another attempt by Russia to strengthen its position, time will tell.
