Talks between US and Russian delegations, which also included representatives of Ukraine, have concluded in Saudi Arabia. The main topic of discussion was achieving a maritime truce in the Black Sea. US President Donald Trump noted that the talks are focused on a ceasefire in the region, but other important issues are also being discussed.
URA-Inform reports this, citing DW .
According to Trump, the meetings raised issues of dividing the territory, demarcation lines, as well as energy and ownership of power plants. In particular, they discussed the possibility of transferring control over Ukrainian power plants to American companies, given their experience in this area.
US State Department spokeswoman Tammy Bruce stressed that Ukraine and Russia are close to a complete ceasefire.
“We have never been closer to ending the conflict than we are now,” she said, adding that further discussions would cover both the maritime truce and broader issues.
Despite the positive statements, Moscow warned against expecting a quick breakthrough. Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova stressed that the negotiations were not proceeding as quickly as desired and that many technical and diplomatic issues still needed to be resolved.
As part of these meetings, the United States also expects to quickly sign an agreement with Kiev on the division of revenues from Ukrainian mineral resources, which is an important part of the negotiation process.
The Ukrainian delegation, led by Defense Minister Rustem Umerov, continues negotiations with the United States, which will discuss not only the ceasefire, but also other aspects of security and energy.
