58% of Ukrainians believe that Ukraine will win this war in the short term.
Source : national sociological survey conducted by the Ilk Kucheriv Democratic Initiatives Foundation together with the sociological service of the Razumkov Center from December 8 to 15, 2023.
Details : The absolute majority of Ukrainians continue to believe in victory – 88%, 63% of them definitely believe in victory (last year it was 78%), only 5% of respondents doubt victory.

Verbatim : “More than half of Ukrainians (58%) believe that Ukraine will win this war in the short term: 6% – in the next few months, 21% – by the summer of 2024, another 31% – in 1-2 years.”
15% of respondents are inclined to win in the medium term (3-5 years). At the same time, fans of the most pessimistic scenario, who do not believe that victory will come in their lifetime, are in the absolute minority (2.5%).”
Details : According to the survey, those who believe in victory before the summer of 2024 are least in the East (16%) and most in the South (25%).
Regionally, the share of those who believe that victory will come in 1–2 years ranges from 27% in the South to 36% in the West of the country.

Reference: The face-to-face survey was conducted in Vinnytsia, Volyn, Dnepropetrovsk, Zhytomyr, Transcarpathian, Zaporozhye, Ivano-Frankivsk, Kiev, Kirovograd, Lviv, Nikolaev, Odessa, Poltava, Rivne, Sumy, Ternopil, Kharkov, Kherson, Khmelnytsky , Cherkassy, Chernihiv, Chernivtsi regions and Kiev (in Zaporozhye, Nikolaev, Kharkov, Kherson regions – only in those territories controlled by the Ukrainian government and in which hostilities are not taking place).
The survey was conducted using a stratified multi-stage sample using random sampling at the first stages of sampling and a quota method for selecting respondents at the final stage (when respondents were selected according to gender and age quotas). The structure of the sample population reproduces the demographic structure of the adult population of the territories where the survey was conducted as of the beginning of 2022 (by age, gender, type of settlement).
2019 respondents aged 18 years and over were surveyed. The theoretical sampling error does not exceed 2.3%. At the same time, additional systematic sampling deviations may be due to the consequences of Russian aggression, in particular the forced evacuation of millions of citizens.
