The Russian Federation attacked Kyiv with an X-101 missile manufactured in the 4th quarter of 2023 – Defense Express

Deciphering the serial number of the missile showed that the ammunition was manufactured quite recently.

Usually, the possible time of production of Russian missile missiles is indicated by a ten-digit serial number, which is applied to all parts of the enemy’s design rockets. The experts there simply erased the serial numbers with a grinder,” the publication writes.

Now the Russians have begun marking their missiles with serial numbers that make them difficult to decipher. The first six digits are “complete gobbledygook”. Previously, products manufactured in 2023 had a number starting with “315”; “263” had numbers for missiles manufactured after 2020.

“The indication for the 4th quarter of 2023 as the production time of the downed X-101 is generally “hardwired” into the number 9 (in other words, from the seventh digit in the serial number you need to subtract “5”, and this is how you get the quarter number , in which the missile was manufactured),” noted Defense Express.

Probably , the Russians resort to such “tricks” to hide the possible origin of components used for the production of cruise missiles.
