Ukraine is faced with the task of returning absolutely all of its own from captivity.
Within one week, Ukraine may Russia.
The Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights Dmitry Lubinets spoke about this.
“But don’t forget who we are fighting with, they are negotiating insidiously, and no one knows when they will be able to interrupt this process again. But we are doing absolutely everything possible that depends on Ukraine,” Lubinets noted.
He added that over the past two weeks certain changes have occurred in negotiations with Russia: mutual visits to prisoners of war, mutual exchange of warm things and today, finally, the return of prisoners.
“The task is to return absolutely everyone,” the ombudsman emphasized.

Dmitry Lubinets also said that the Ukrainian defenders and defenders who returned from captivity today were there from 6 months to 1.5 years. All of them are in poor physical condition, exhausted, and very thin.
At the same time, the exchange was complicated by the fact that the Russian Federation wanted not to carry out an exchange of prisoners, to block the process of returning civilian hostages in order to try to blow up the situation in Ukraine from the inside as much as possible.
Why there were no prisoner exchanges before
-
The Office of the Ombudsman of Ukraine reported that Russia does not want to return its citizens, so it suspended the exchanges. According to the Ministry of Reintegration, Russia is holding 4,337 Ukrainians captive, most of whom are military. And Ukraine, due to the large number of captured occupiers, began to build another camp for them. However, President Zelensky previously stated that exchanges of prisoners of war with Russia have not been suspended. According to him, this often happens not publicly, but sometimes right on the battlefield.

The Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War warned that the Russian Federation plans to launch another wave of disinformation on propaganda channels about the reasons for the suspension of prisoner exchanges.

Meanwhile, the leaders of the European Union, who visited China in December and met with Xi Jinping and Prime Minister Li Qiang, should have pushed Beijing to put pressure on Moscow, to intensify prisoner exchanges.
