The SBU detained the “deputy head of the election commission of the Russian Federation,” who helped hold a fake referendum in the Kherson region

The woman voluntarily went over to the side of the enemy, campaigned for the annexation of the region to the Russian Federation and forced residents to put the “correct” marks on the ballots.

The security service exposed another collaborator who organized an illegal “referendum” for Russia during the occupation of the right-bank Kherson region.

According to the SBU, the traitor is a resident of the village of Borozenskoye, Berislavsky district, after the capture of the village she voluntarily agreed to cooperate with the aggressor. For this, the Russian invaders appointed her “deputy head of the Russian election commission” in the community.

During her tenure, the woman campaigned for the region to join the Russian Federation. In particular, she placed propaganda postcards with the symbols of the aggressor country in the “election commission” and public places. The defendant also prepared lists of local residents to force them to participate in a staged vote in order to create the appearance of maximum citizen turnout. The woman demanded that people put the “necessary” marks on illegal ballots for large-scale falsification of the results of the pseudo-referendum.

After Kherson’s dismissal, the collaborator remained on the right bank of the region, where she tried to be “inconspicuous,” but SBU officers established her whereabouts.

She is still in custody. The investigation is ongoing to establish all the circumstances of the crime. The attacker faces up to 10 years in prison with confiscation of property.
