In the Kherson region, the former head of the village council was exposed for collaboration

The traitor agreed to head one of the illegal government bodies, organized a pseudo-referendum and called on residents to vote for the region to join Russia.

Law enforcement officers of the Kherson region exposed the 68-year-old former village chairman Komyshan, who, after Russia’s attack on Ukraine, supported the occupation, headed one of the illegal bodies of the occupation authorities and in every possible way contributed to the holding of a pseudo-referendum on the entry of the Kherson region into Russia.

“In June 2022, the defendant voluntarily assumed the position of the so-called “chairman of the military-civil administration of the Komyshan settlement territorial society of Kherson, Kherson region,'” the National Police reported.

In addition, the pseudo-head actively participated in the preparation and conduct of an illegal referendum on the annexation of the Kherson region to the aggressor country. In particular, the police established that the attacker personally conducted interviews to select members of the precinct election commission, which was supposed to hold pseudo-elections in the territory of temporarily occupied Komishan, Zimovnik, Blagoveshchensky and Priozerny. After the creation of the illegal PEC, the defendant provided it with premises, vehicles and material resources.

Also, directly on the days of the so-called “referendum,” the attacker, together with the Russian military on a campaign bus, made a detour around Komishan and called on local residents to join and vote for the annexation of the Kherson region to Russia.

Now investigators from the regional department of the SBU have informed the defendant about suspicion of collaboration activities. For committing a crime against the foundations of the national security of Ukraine, the suspect faces up to 10 years in prison.
