The Security Service of Ukraine reported that it documented the subversive activities of the mitred archpriest of the Cherkasy diocese of the UOC (MP), who justified the armed aggression of the Russian Federation. In particular, he accused the Ukrainian defenders of preparing for military provocations in Odessa and called the fighters of the Azov special forces “Nazis.”

The defendant supplemented his messages with reposts with hostile slogans, photographs and videos from pro-Kremlin Internet resources.

During a search at the cleric’s place of residence, prohibited symbols and a mobile phone from which he distributed anti-Ukrainian propaganda were discovered.

The examinations initiated by the SBU confirmed the facts of the criminal actions of the defendant.

Based on the collected evidence, the mitred archpriest of the UOC (MP) was informed of suspicion under Part 2 and Part 3 of Art. 436-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (justification of the armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine, glorification of its participants).

The issue of choosing a preventive measure for him is currently being decided.

An investigation is ongoing to establish all the circumstances crimes. The perpetrator faces up to 8 years in prison with confiscation of property.
