Small does not mean cheap, simple and insignificant. The class of compact crossovers has a number of new models. Today we will look at a number of surviving cars that have not lost popularity, but those that have already been replaced on the factory conveyor.

Why do people rip off the crossover? On the right, just seemingly, at a height. The crown sits higher above the road, the water tends to sit higher, and the interior tends to be taller. Nissan Juke, 2010–2019.

The transmission is either mechanical or automatic, and in the end it won’t be the same as the long-term CVT variator, due to the critical wear of any “Juke” it is often called upon by its first masters. With the strongest engine, the Juke has a 4×4 drive, but the ground clearance of 18 cm “does not let go” of this model for the most part, which is worth noting. At uneven temperatures, this car is compressed with rigidity, and even the chassis is “sharpened” for smooth asphalt. Before speaking, the all-wheel drive system is tuned for fast driving: there is a differential, which helps to make sharp turns on the right.
Hyundai Kona, 2017–2023
The least popular in our region is the compact “cross”, which is a small “Korean”, however, more than other orientations on the Swiss route and the city of operation – it is equal to most of its competitors. It has a more squat silhouette, it is low and sportily wide. The range of engines includes supercharged units, including a 1.0-liter downsizing and a large 1.6-liter engine (120–174 hp), including a diesel one. The transmission is automatic – perhaps a sporty “robot” with two gears. It’s great that the Kona has a version with all-wheel drive. The first generation Kona also has an electric version, but we don’t talk about such cars these days.
Suzuki Jimny, 1998–2018
This is not a typical car for the segment of compact crossovers, but in a very strict manner, it is not a crossover, but a full-fledged 4×4 crossover vehicle – without any unnecessary excesses. It has a frame design, continuous axles, all-wheel drive with a double-speed transfer case and rigid front end connections – in one word, everything is like that of countless now grown-up “rogues”.
Under the hood of the Jimny there is a 1.3 liter or 1.4 liter petrol engine (80 – 82 hp) or a 1.5 liter turbodiesel (65 – 86 hp). Let us repeat that, despite its dimensions (overhead 3.675 m), this car is a good off-road vehicle, but in Ukraine, most of them were used not on off-road, but in the role of a small crossover; zocrema, they were often bathed by the women. The biggest downside is the microscopic trunk (85 l), which is larger than the size of the folding rear seat (620 l).
Ford EcoSport, 2012–2022
The model is somewhat atypical for Europe, but it does not deprive it of any positive hostility. There is a wide choice of engines, including two 1.5-liter diesel engines and a choice of gasoline engines with a working volume of 1.0 to 2.0 liters (100 – 140 hp). Moreover, the youngest “turbo engine” is the most advanced 3-cylinder turbo unit, which many years later took away from Europe the title of the best engine in the world. “Automatic machines” are both classic hydromechanical and fashionable preselective “robots” with two components, “mechanics” are also lost. In addition, there are a lot of cars with all-wheel drive on the secondary market. The car is comfortable on the move, even on broken roads, and trim levels with top-end engines still have plenty of chew.
Renault Captur, 2013–2019 pp.
This is a very stylish European car (not to be confused with the same name “Capture” based on the “Duster”, created for poorer countries), and is easy to drive. But the effective appearance is not the only advantage, for example, the clear advantage is not the record clearance of 20 cm for this company. formats. The engine line is quite rich, it includes downsizing 0.9-liter 3-cylinder engines, and more importantly 1.2- and 1.3-liter units, and even an older 1.5-liter diesel (90 – 110 kW) With.). All engines and motors are turbocharged, which is not good for a real car. In fact, the model is subject to small joint activities. The cars, officially sold in Ukraine at the time, were equipped with an automatic transmission with an effective preselective “robot” with two gears. There are no 4×4 versions, all Captures have front-wheel drive.

When purchasing a compact crossover on the secondary market, pay attention not only to the livable parts of the model, but also to the technical strength of the car. First of all, with an eye to the fact that such cars, when designed, rarely include a great reserve of value and resource. Apparently, since such a car was used for supermundane purposes – for example, in the regime of a squire – then in the first period of the Volunteer you will have to repair it often.
