The French Senate supported the security agreement with Ukraine

The procedure is not a legal ratification, but indicates that French society is committed to helping Ukraine.

The delegations of Ukraine and France before signing the security agreement

The National Assembly confirmed by vote support for the security agreement with Ukraine signed by Presidents Vladimir Zelensky and Emmanuel Macron.

According to Ukrinform, the debate in the Senate on this issue lasted four hours. As a result, 293 members of parliament spoke in favor of the document, 22 voted against it, and another 11 abstained.

Although the vote was of a “signal” nature and was not a formal ratification, France became the first country where parliament in both chambers supported a security agreement with official Kiev. The Ambassador of our state to France, Vadim Omelchenko, considers this a confirmation of the high level of solidarity with Ukraine in French society.
