In Zaporozhye, a law enforcement officer was exposed who demanded a bribe of 100 thousand from the military

The law enforcement officer demanded money for “resolving” the traffic accident case.

A law enforcement officer demanding thousands of hryvnias in bribes exposed a law enforcement officer. He demanded money from an official for not holding him accountable for allegedly causing an accident.

This was reported by the State Bureau of Investigation.

A law enforcement officer was investigating the circumstances of an accident that occurred in the Dnieper district of Zaporozhye in April 2024. One of the participants in the accident was a serviceman who returned from the front after being wounded.

“Despite the fact that, according to preliminary data, the serviceman was not the culprit of the accident, the defendant demanded money from him for not holding him accountable,” it says in the message.

The law enforcement officer received 60 thousand hryvnia, but subsequently demanded another 40 thousand hryvnia, for which he also offered to return the seized car.

The attacker was informed of suspicion of extortion and receiving illegal benefits. The sanction of the article provides for imprisonment for up to 10 years. The issue of choosing a preventive measure against the suspect and removing him from official duties is currently being decided.

In early April, in the Kyiv region, a law enforcement officer was detained for accepting a bribe of 15 thousand dollars for “excusing” a person liable for military service from service in the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
