Two metro stations and more than 350 other names have been derussified in Kharkov

The corresponding orders were signed by the mayor of the city, Igor Terekhov.

Kharkov Metro

In the Kharkov Metro, “Yaroslav the Wise” was de-Russified, and “South Station” ” – “Vokzalnaya”. This was reported on the City Council's Facebook page.

The change in the name of the station, located near the station, is due to Ukrazaliznytsia's refusal to use the outdated name of its regional branches. The Southern Railway, which was so named back in the days of the Russian Empire, should receive a new name in the future. During the survey in the “Action” application, the option “Kharkiv Railway” received the most votes.

Also, another 367 toponyms were renamed in Kharkov. Mendeleev, Vologodskaya, Novgorodskaya, Nizhegorodskaya and Petrozavodskaya streets disappeared from the city map – Uchebnaya, British, European, Pisatelskaya and Estonskaya appeared. The full list of changes was published on the website of the city authorities.

The order on renaming was signed by the mayor of Kharkov Igor Terekhov.
