“People are threatened with execution”: Lubinets responded to Russian war crimes in the Kharkov region

The occupiers are holding people in the basement and threatening to shoot them.

> Dmitry Lubinets reacted to the atrocities of Russian occupiers in one of the communities of Volchansk, Kharkov region areas. There, the Russians captured civilians and are threatening execution.

The Ombudsman on Telegram said that he is already informing international organizations about Russian war crimes in the Kharkov region.

“The Russians have again occupied the territories of the Kharkov region and are committing war crimes there. It has become known that in Volchansk the enemy is holding the civilian population in a basement. People are threatened with extrajudicial execution and forced to perform forced labor,” the message says.

For According to him, local residents who were able to evacuate say that they were kept in the basement for almost 3 days. Some people managed to leave, but other civilians remain there, being held by force by the Russians.

Evacuees note that an entire family, as well as volunteers, are being held captive. They noticed that they had heard stories from the occupiers about their intention to shoot civilians.

“I would like to note: such actions of Russian military personnel and their command, issuing orders for the detention of civilians, are a direct violation of the Geneva Convention relative to the Protection of Civilian Persons in Time of War. I will inform international organizations about these crimes and violations of human rights by Russia!” , notes Lubinets.

The Ombudsman appealed to all citizens living near the zone of active hostilities: “do not expect mercy from the occupiers, evacuate! Now for this purpose the government hotline operates around the clock and free of charge: 0 800 339 291,” wrote Lubinets.
