Ukraine will soon sign a contract with Denmark on financing Ukrainian weapons and ammunition production.
This was announced by Defense Minister Rustem Umerov, who is at the 75th NATO summit in Washington.
He met with Defense Ministers of Denmark Trols Lund Poulsen and the Netherlands Ruben Brekelmans.
“Denmark is the first NATO country to directly finance Ukrainian weapons and ammunition production. Thank you, Denmark, for your leadership! The first contract will be signed in the near future,” the Ukrainian minister said.
Fighters were also discussed at the meeting.
“The key issue at the meeting was the transfer of F-16 fighters to Ukraine. We are preparing to welcome modern fighters in the Ukrainian skies. I am confident that these aircraft will significantly strengthen the defense of our cities from Russian missile terror and enhance the capabilities of the Ukrainian Defense Forces in the sky,” Umerov noted.
The Defense Minister added that another priority is the creation of joint ventures. We discussed with partners a model for joint investment in weapons production, which will help strengthen our defense capability. Umerov said that for this purpose the Defense Ministry is creating a “Defense Fund,” which will become the main partner for foreign allies in the creation of joint ventures.
