The occupiers want to demolish the Ukrainian church in Yevpatoria

They want to collect money for dismantling from the local parish and the Administration of the Crimean Diocese of the UOC-KP (now the OCU).

The occupiers want to demolish the Ukrainian church in Yevpatoria filed a statement with the so-called “Evpatoria City Court Republic of Crimea” with a request to allow the dismantling of the Ukrainian church.

The Voice of Crimea reports this.

The lawsuit notes that the arrival of the Most Pure Image of the Mother of God “Burning Bush” in the city. Evpatoria and the Administration of the Crimean Diocese of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the KP (now the OCU) as of June 2024 did not personally dismantle the parish church.

Thus, the parish did not comply with the next decision of the occupation court.

The occupation administration asks the “court” to allow the dismantling of the Ukrainian church, and to recover the costs for this from the parish and the Administration of the Crimean Diocese of the UOC-KP (now the OCU).

The construction of the temple in Yevpatoria began before 2014; they tried to demolish it several times – both before and after the occupation of the peninsula.

In particular, at about 4:00 on December 3, in 2013, unknown persons set fire to the temple. Part of the temple building and the not yet installed dome were damaged. Maidan activists raised money for a new dome and installed it anyway.

In 2014, Bishop Kliment reported in the media that the initiator of the demolition of the church was the deputy chairman of the Crimean Republican Cultural and Educational Society of Crimeans “Karimchakhlar” N.I. Purim.
