Ukrainian Olympians before going to Paris
The Friday night officially starts in Paris, is a great achievement in war time. According to Reuters, President Vladimir Zelensky made this statement in his address.
The Chairman of the State spoke via video communication with the athletes who will represent our state at the main competition of the four years. He thanked them and all those who “help Ukrainians maintain as many elements of a normal life as possible.” According to the President, preparing for the Games in the conditions of full-scale Russian terror is already a success.
Zelensky said that the Ukrainian flag and the Ukrainian anthem will be in France along with all other states that value human life and respect Olympism. For Russia, “the only sport now is killing people, which the world will never tolerate.”
- 140 Ukrainians will take part in the Olympic Games in Paris – the smallest representation since Independence.
- Despite efforts to exclude Russian athletes, 15 of them received an invitation to the Games in “neutral” status.
