Pentagon Finds Extra $2 Billion for Ukraine Due to Accounting Error

This happened last year when more than 6 billion were discovered unused in Washington.

A US government report released on Thursday contains information about errors in calculating the cost of weapons sent to Ukraine. This will allow the Pentagon to provide our country with additional assistance in the amount of $2 billion.

According to Reuters, this is not the first time that the US Department of Defense has had an accounting problem. Last year, the department also incorrectly estimated the volume of ammunition, missiles and other military equipment provided, resulting in a surplus of more than $6 billion. They were used to supply Kyiv with even more weapons.

As the government explained, such mistakes, which are fortunate for Ukraine, arise because the law adopted by Congress on providing assistance to our country in the amount of 61 billion dollars does not contain clear instructions on how to evaluate the transferred weapons. It is also not always clear how to count the equipment received by Kiev under the US President's program, allowing it to use stocks from warehouses.

The Pentagon wants to ask legislators to regulate this issue in documents.
