New cars rarely fail their owners, and one of the reasons for owning a car is battery, yak chi then vyyshov from the line before the line, or simply sіv “to zero”. In both cases, decisions could require immediate recharging. What should you do?
For information on how to properly charge a car battery so that it doesn’t let you down, read the material from RBC-Ukraine.

It’s no secret that a lot of water is consumed and the battery doesn’t charge at all. Because they don’t have to pay for service at a service station, or because they can’t afford to pay for an early battery replacement. Prote, the smut of food here is not in pennies, but for the one who, through an overlooked battery at the moment, can save the car at a very inconvenient moment. There are still a lot of things you can do to ensure the reliability of your battery and the car as a whole.
When you need to charge the battery
Most often, the drive to recharge the battery is caused by problems with starting the engine: the starter is lazy and reluctant to check our engine, otherwise it fails. It is important that recharging will not help here, but you can start working on it – even if it’s short.
And the battery on board the car, which is used in a large area, may require recharging simply because the hassle of short trips around the world has run out. The battery often fails to supply the generator with the energy expended to start the engine and numerous other efforts. It's good that you can change the voltage on the battery. It is important to understand the extent of the faults: if after a number of years the battery voltage at its terminals is below 12.5 volts, it requires charging.
How to charge the battery
The process of charging the battery depends on the type of charging device (automatic or not), but in general order like this:
- It is not obligatory to remove the car terminals from the battery before charging, but then turn off all the remaining energy. Prote, about any problem with cars of the remaining models, the power supply is best addressed to the engineers at the dealership center;
- We supply a fraction of the charge to the battery terminals. Plus to plus (chervony drit chi “crocodile”), minus to minus (blue);
- The charger is set by the regulator on the charging device (except for automatic models). Nominal flow – 10% of the battery capacity in ampere-years. For example, if the battery has a capacity of 60 A*year, charge it with a 6 ampere pump, if it’s 42 A*year, use a 4.2 – 4.0 A booster. Even an old battery with a low voltage is better off charging with a small charger, close to 1 .0 – 1.5 amperes (chain world “lik” from sulfation). If you need to speed up charging, you can install a larger rated charger, if you want to avoid more than 10 amperes;
- Or charge the battery “to full”, then fill the ampere-year reserve to the value that indicates the capacity on the case – 42 A*year, 55 A*year, 60 A*year etc. If you take into account that your battery with a capacity of 60 A*year was set to “zero”, you must charge it with a 6 ampere supply for 10 years (or the same). By multiplying the charger per hour of charging, we obtain the value of the energy reserve in ampere-years that goes into the battery. If, in your opinion, the battery is too often discharged, give it half (or, say, a third) of its declared capacity. There are more precise signs that the battery is already charged, but they are more briefly discussed in the accompanying material;
- If you have what is called an intelligent (automatic) charging device, it regulates the charger itself and the hour of charging, and speeds up the process. Please be aware that you cannot replace the battery of such a device.
How you can’t charge the battery
There are a number of risks associated with charging a car battery that can be avoided if you follow the safety rules:
- Be careful not to short circuit the charging device (plus and minus) or the battery terminal (say, with a tool that suddenly falls on it);
- Do not burn the battery and do not ignite the fire – the water may spill out It appears when charging;
- Be careful not to significantly overcharge the battery, as soon as it overheats and boils – and then distilled water will have to be added to it;
- The battery must stand on the surface during charging, so there is no danger acid. Bo theoretically, vapors with small drops of acid can escape from the vent openings of the cans;
- Leave the battery on recharge without seeing that you are using a reliable charging device.
Briefly
Be respectful, That the very refilling of the battery in a planted or newly planted station affects its readiness before starting a cold engine, and on its service life in general. It is important for you, in addition to a clear charging device, to get a more accurate voltmeter and follow the method of periodically monitoring the battery.
Guess what, recently RBC-Ukraine revealed how to keep the battery alive and a car.
