Marchenko about the “transport tax”: buying a car during the war is not a critical need

The Ministry of Finance does not have any problems either for the car market or for car buyers Promotion of military levy at the rate of 15% of the transport rate at the first registration.

Minister of Finance Sergiy Marchenko stated this in an interview with RBC-Ukraine.

In his words, on The Ministry of Finance welcomes a lot of criticism from car dealers, who seem to think that the introduction of a military tax on the purchase of cars will lead to a tightening of the market. The minister admitted that in some cases it can be effective. “This is also a source of food for law enforcement agencies who may be able to fight the shadowy market,” Marchenko says.

In my opinion, buying a car is not the first necessity in a warring country. “We have a problem of security, our house is on fire, and you say that we don’t need to buy a property, but rather buy a car. No problem, buy a new car, or else you will additionally boost your energy,” he said.

“Purchasing a car at a time is not a fundamentally critical need. In other words, for the security and defense sector, cars can be imported without a tax and without paying the maximum allowance,” the minister added.

It seems likely that the Cabinet of Ministers submitted a bill for the promotion of taxes on 140 billion hryvnia, it is proposed to revise the size of the military tax, excise duties and other taxes.

With the project, at the time of the first registration of passenger cars, the military tax will be collected ir at the size of 15% of the car's value (except for the security issues of passenger cars, especially Disability is covered by law).
