Time: Zelensky and Harris don't have the best relationship

The US Vice President rejected the idea of preemptive sanctions against Russia.

Volodymyr Zelensky and Kamala Harris

Time claims that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has a “not very warm” relationship with US Vice President Kamala Harris, who is running for the post of head of the American state.

According to journalist Simon Schuster, the tension between the politicians dates back to their meeting at a conference in Munich in 2022, just days before the start of Russia's full-scale invasion. Realizing the inevitability of a great war, the Ukrainian delegation asked the vice president to impose preventive sanctions against the Kremlin and begin supplying Ukraine with heavy weapons.

According to Time, Harris rejected both requests, citing the effect in Washington, and the weapons would be proof for Putin that Ukraine is a “NATO client state.”

After that conversation, Zelensky and Harris had a “cool” attitude towards each other, although they met a total of six times. The Democrat expressed condolences to Ukraine, but it was “protocol-like.” Harris, unlike many American officials, never visited Kyiv during the invasion.
