A saboteur of the Russian military intelligence who was preparing a series of arson attacks on Ukrzaliznytsia facilities. This was reported by the SBU.

The enemy's main targets were transformer substations and relay cabinets on the main railway lines of the region. In the event of the destruction of power equipment, the occupiers hoped to block the movement of rolling stock of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the direction of the front line.

For the sabotage, the Russian special service recruited a local builder who was looking for “additional” income in Telegram channels. He agreed to set fire to critical infrastructure in exchange for money. To do this, he scouted the location of the first potential target – a transformer near a railway track, and then prepared a cache with three Molotov cocktails there.

Then the suspect involved his friend, who was supposed to arrive “on site” using the received coordinates, retrieve the incendiary mixture from the hiding place and set fire to the electrical substation. On the instructions of the occupiers, their henchman planned to give them a video of the fire as a “report” on the completed task and continue a series of arson attacks in the region.

However, the Security Service prevented further arson attacks and detained the saboteur at the initial stage of his subversive activities.

During the search, homemade incendiary mixtures and a mobile phone were found on him, which he used to communicate with the aggressor.

Based on the evidence collected, the Security Service investigators informed the detainee of suspicion under Part 1 of Article 14, Part 2 of Article 113 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (preparation for sabotage committed under martial law).

Currently, the perpetrator is in custody. He faces a life sentence with confiscation of property.

Recall that last week in the Cherkasy region, a saboteur was caught who set fire to railway and power engineering facilities. The attacker tried to destroy 8 electrical substations and one relay cabinet in different places in the Uman district.
