The head of the Odessa OVA responded to Trukhanov's campaign against renaming

Oleg Kiper assured that there will be no imperial and Soviet names in Odessa.

Odesa Mayor Gennady is against renaming streets that have Soviet and imperial names. The official published the results of several polls in his Telegram, where the majority of Internet users are against decolonization.

The head of the Odessa Regional Military Administration, Oleh Kiper, responded to the actions of the mayor. On his page, without naming Trukhanov, he stated that those who can't wait to stroll along streets with hostile names should not be in Odessa, but in Moscow or Ufa.

Kiper is convinced that a Ukrainian city cannot be named after people who received medals from Putin or collaborated with the KGB. “The southern pearl of Ukraine has a historic chance to break away from imperial narratives and be a modern, culturally independent city, rather than living in the past,” the official emphasized.

The chairman of the OVA assured that there will be no streets in Odessa with names from imperial and Soviet times.
